The harder I work the luckier I get

Ben Friedman

I love the above quote from Thomas Jefferson as it has rang true throughout my career. I am aware that luck is random (read Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Taleb for more on this) but it’s hard work that creates the environment for luck to shine through. The combination of these two elements has afforded many truly awesome experiences: having a great family, playing college football, falling into the innovation world, falling into the start-up world, traveling to diverse locations, living in cool places, and much more.

I grew up in St. Louis, MO and currently live in Seattle, WA. I love to bike in the summer and ski in the winter. I’m addicted to podcasts and audio books. Some quick favorites:

Podcasts: How I Built This, Masters of Scale, Radio Lab, Radio Lab: More Perfect, Tim Ferriss, Kevin Rose, Serial, This American Life, Big Questions w/ Cal Fussman, Akimbo by Seth Godin

Books: Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink, Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, Fooled By Randomness by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Conspiracy by Ryan Holiday, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
